Corona-21032020

Things are getting so not good. Home quarantine of millions of people are becoming a way of life. Major cities are under alert. People are distancing from each other at least 6 feet apart. It is a confusing time. Allergy, simple cold, or corona? Amount of information out there are so immense that anyone may get lost to which he or she have to believe. Disinfection! is the word of the day. Some will not do, some will do it to the extreme. I saw someone Lysol spraying 4 paws of our wooly friend.

Depression will set in. That is inevitable. Unemployment, uncertainty, hopelessness will lead to mental disease so massive that we have not seen for so long. Depression lead to the alcoholism, anger, addiction, weight gain, panic attack and suicide.

Global pandemic happens because some countries have their own Kodak moment. With the flow of information in the age of digital communications, there is no excuse to let the virus in and let is grow into a monster enemy.

But crisis bring innovations and ingenuity. Individuals and companies, for good reason or because of the opportunity to make money will get involved in repurposing their line of products.

As of today over 300 000 people are infected and 13000 have died. The real number is of course much higher than this because most countries are not reporting and are not transparent. I am closely monitoring the situation in Iran. A conservative estimate put is over 10000 death.

Mismanagement of the outbreak is now very clear. But this is a burning question: How to turn a mismanaged crisis into a managed one? I think the first would be to look at the HR that are assigned to take care of the situation very closely. A task force of capable people. To do that, a fresh and responsible leadership is in dire need. Crisis are always managed from top. If top is not capable who will fire the top?
